Daughter of Dominican artists Aníbal de Peña and Alida Iluminada Jiménez, singer/songwriter Alih Jey started composing at the age of 14, writing lyrics based on her personal experiences. She had the opportunity to sign up to the Latin division of Universal Music at the age of 17. Alih Jey's self-titled bilingual debut album was released in 2001, featuring the hit single "It's O.K."
