Bomba Estéreo of Bogotá, Colombia is a psychedelic cumbia group made up of Simón Mejía and singer Liliana (Li) Saumet. The group formed in 2005. Their music merges folk sounds from the Colombian caribbean coast like cumbia, bullerengue and champeta mixed with electronica, reggae and hip-hop producing an explosive dance sound. Currently the band is releasing their second album Estalla with Polen Records in Colombia and Blow Up through Nacional Records in the United States. Bomba Estéreo of Bogotá, Colombia is a psychedelic cumbia group made up of Simón Mejía and singer Liliana (Li) Saumet. The group formed in 2005. Their music merges folk sounds from the Colombian caribbean coast like cumbia, bullerengue and champeta mixed with electronica, reggae and hip-hop producing an explosive dance sound. Currently the band is releasing their second album Estalla with Polen Records in Colombia and Blow Up through Nacional Records in the United States. Bomba Estéreo have performed more than 40 live shows in Colombia, with artists such as Calle 13, Pacha Massive, Choquibtown, La 33, and Tres Duenos among others. Recently the band toured the UK and Brazil promoting Blow Up. They also attended SXSW 2009 in Austin to much critical acclaim in the press. The group is touring the U.S. in Summer 2009 to promote their single, "Fuego."
