Emerging from Vladivostok, Russia, established DJ, songwriter and producer Denis Montero (vocals, lyrics) along with session guitarist and studio engineer Gena Privalov (guitars) began making music after they met at a friend’s house. They started the very next day, appropriately titling the band, Nexxt. “We are very proud to be independent. It saves us from listening to what we ‘should and shouldn’t’ do, so we can be as creative as we [want] with our music” says Denis. Gena adds, “We wanted to play something fresh, not reproducing more heavy material like what’s already out there. We did experiments with various styles of music, combining punk, hip hop and others. Both of us have very assorted music influences, listening to anything we believe is good.” After only a few months, Nexxt debuted their material at a local club, and got a heavy response. Soon, Nexxt songs were getting radio play on almost every alternative station in their area. Further spreading their buzz, the duo continued to play many gigs –both supporting and headlining, before deciding to release their album internationally on the self owned label Number One ENT.
