I had the pleasure of interviewing Emanuela Bellezza behind the scenes of the taping of Juanes Unplugged. Not only was she charming and down to earth, but she has quite the impressive resume when it comes to music and talent.

I asked Emanuela what she would do for a living if she weren't a singer, and she replied, "that is a bit of a difficult question, because I've been into music all my life. If I were to lose my voice, I would still play the piano so I could be a musician. If I weren't a musician, I would be a painter. I paint now, so that is another one of my passions. I am making a different painting now for each song on my new album. Each song will have its own art to accompany it. When I listen to music or write music, images pop into my head."

Bellezza feels the visual is just as important as the sound when it comes to expressing her emotions, so the two go hand in hand. She added, "I have always wanted to be a singer, ever since I was 5 or 6 years old. At 16 I began writing songs, then later began singing at clubs and recording my music."

She describes her music as a fresh new sound. She sings in three languages- Spanish, Italian, and English- and her genre can be described mostly as Latin pop.

Emanuela started listening to Juanes since his hit Camisa Negra debuted in Italy. She was lucky to have found the Juanes Unplugged contest online, at which point she sent in her video. She was later chosen by Juanes to be the winning contestant.

When asked whether she was nervous singing in front of the crowd, Bellezza responded, "I was emotional, but in a positive way, not nervous. I am used to being onstage, but it was a really positive emotion. I was calm, but not nervous. Lots of adrenaline, but it was a positive experience."

Emanuela feels the best part of winning the Juanes Unplugged contest was singing onstage with him. She also added that another highlight of this experience was meeting him for the first time.

I asked Emanuela, besides singing onstage with Juanes, what her dream collaboration would be. "I like many different artists. Juan Luis Guerra would be great to sing with. As a woman, I love Alicia Keys a lot as well."

After the interview, Emanuela expressed what a great experience this had been for her and had one final thing to say to her fans, "Thank you for listening to my music and believing in me, as an artist, as a person."

Make sure you check out Emanuela's current album, Matices de Amor. It contains 10 tracks- 7 in english, 2 in spanish, and 1 in Italian. Now, if this songstress isn't the epitome of talent, then I don't know who is.

What song would you sing onstage with Juanes if you had the chance?
